Social Activities & Events

Building stronger bonds through gatherings that celebrate our community and foster meaningful friendships.

HomeWhat We DoSocial Activities & Events

Where Fellowship Comes Alive!

Our goal is that when someone attends one of our gatherings, they don't just see a nonprofit — they feel the warmth of a community that truly cares for their soul.

At Friends of Malton, we believe that community is built one gathering at a time. Our Social Activities & Events are designed to do more than bring people together — they create a “village” atmosphere where the elder is honored, the lonely find a seat at the table, and every person experiences the warmth of genuine fellowship.

These gatherings are the heartbeat of our organization. They are vibrant, inclusive, and Spirit-led — spaces where laughter flows freely, friendships are forged, and the love of Christ is tangible.

We don't just host events — we create experiences that remind people they are valued, they are seen, and they are loved.

The Theology of Gathering!

In a world where loneliness is an epidemic and isolation is the norm, gathering together is a radical act of resistance. When we come together for fellowship, we are living out the biblical mandate to “not give up meeting together” (Hebrews 10:25).

01

Building Authentic Relationships

Fellowship breaks down walls. When people share a meal, laugh together, or play games side by side, barriers fall and authentic relationships form. These connections become the foundation for long-term community support and spiritual growth.

02

Honoring Our Elders

Our elders carry wisdom, stories, and prayers that have sustained this community for decades. Our social activities create intentional spaces where they are celebrated, honored, and given platforms to pour into the next generation.

03

Creating a Gateway to Spiritual Connection

Many people are more comfortable attending a community picnic than walking into a church service. Our social events serve as a low-pressure entry point where newcomers can experience the love of Christ through fellowship.

04

Strengthening Family Bonds

In the busyness of modern life, families struggle to find quality time together. Our events create opportunities for parents and children, grandparents and grandchildren to connect, play, and build memories that will last a lifetime.

A Time of Fellowship and Celebration

There's something special about gathering outdoors -- under the open sky, surrounded by nature, with children playing freely and families relaxing together. Our community picnics are designed to be joyful, multigenerational celebrations where everyone can participate. From games and activities for the kids to fellowship circles for the adults, these picnics create space for connection, laughter, and rest.

Celebration of Life – Elder Visitation & Honoring Events

Celebration of Life: Honoring Our Elders who paved the way!

Our elders are treasures. They are the prayer warriors who interceded for us, the faithful servants who built the foundation we now stand on, and the living testimonies of God's faithfulness. The "Celebration of Life" program is our way of honoring them with the dignity and respect they deserve. Our teams visit seniors who may be shut-in, bringing them a meal, a sermon recording, and most importantly -- companionship.

  • Regular visits to shut-in elders
  • Companionship and meaningful conversation
  • Meal delivery and practical support
  • Spiritual encouragement and prayer
  • Special events honoring their legacy and contributions

"Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained in the way of righteousness." -- Proverbs 16:31

  • Fun games and activities for all ages
  • Light refreshments and snacks

Lives Transformed Through Fellowship

The impact of our social activities goes far beyond a single event. Here's what we've witnessed:

Loneliness Broken:

Seniors who felt isolated now have a community of friends who check on them regularly.

Families Strengthened:

Parents and children who were disconnected have rebuilt their relationships through shared experiences.

Newcomers Welcomed:

Individuals who were new to Malton or new to faith found a welcoming community where they could belong.

Intergenerational Connection:

Young people and elders have formed mentorship relationships that span decades of wisdom and experience.

Spiritual Awakening:

Many who came for a meal or a picnic left with an encounter with God's love.

“Fellowship isn't just a nice addition to ministry — it is ministry. When we gather in love, we reflect the heart of God, who created us for community and called us to love one another as He has loved us.”

At Friends of Malton, we believe that every gathering is an opportunity to show the world what the Kingdom of God looks like — a place where everyone belongs, where love is tangible, and where no one has to walk alone.

Become the hands and feet of our mission as we work together to support our neighbors socially, economically, and spiritually.
